My Name is Sam Harris and I was born back in October 1989 and spent my childhood years growing up in Huddersfield. I moved to Ossett at the age of 7 and attended Silcoates School where i developed a huge passion for design, sports and music. I continued through to Silcoates college where I achieved A-level's in Design Technology, Mathematics and Physics.
During and after college I was never sure what career path I wanted to go down. I spent a lot of my spare time on the computer, designing things and playing around with XHTML. However, I liked being hands on so I took a year out and found a job as a mechanical engineer.
After finding out that mechanical engineering was really not for me, I began searching for design courses at local colleges and universities. I came across the HND Interactive Media course at Wakefield College. As soon as I read the course information I realised it was exactly what I wanted to do.
The two year course taught me all the basics and branched out into more complex sides of the design world. I developed skills in web, graphic and print design whilst also being taught about the whole industry through some great guest speakers.
The course was a perfect introduction to design and included team projects working with live clients. I learnt a lot from working within a team, taking on many different roles and I developed my communication and design skills immensely. My development skills are now at the level where I can freely code XHTML and CSS scripts and can also implemented both PHP and Java script into my websites.
After completing the HND in May 2010 I started out working on some freelance designs before going to work for a print company called PM Display With recently moving house and things just starting to settle down I am now looking for a job in the design industry. Don't hesitate to get in touch, just take a look at my contact page.
